W6: Briefing, Monitoring and Debriefing for Aid Managers
Recommended for Project and Country Managers & HR Managers
This two day workshop aims to assist Managers to systematically support staff and volunteers across the deployment cycle.
Participants will be introduced firstly to the rationale and general principles of psychosocial screening which can be applied at various points of the deployment cycle in the form of pre-deployment screening, briefing, monitoring and debriefing.
Participants will then practice applying and integrating these psychosocial screening principles to the phases of operational pre-deployment briefings and post-deployment debriefings. Participants will be coached in effective ways of conducting briefings and debriefings during skill practice modules within the workshop program.
Additionally, the purpose, process, benefits and counter indications of different types of “debriefings” will be presented to assist managers to be better informed about this widely and loosely applied term. The potential value, approach and timing of personal psychological screenings conducted by psychologists will also be discussed.
